There are two ways to run network cabling: the fast way, and the correct way. The fast way takes three days. The correct way takes five. The difference between them shows up three years later, when throughput quietly drops and nobody can explain why.

1. Cat.6 or Cat.6A: a decision you only get to make once

Standard Cat.6 supports 1 Gbps up to 100 meters and 10 Gbps up to 55 meters. Cat.6A (Augmented) supports 10 Gbps the full 100 meters, with headroom for future 25 Gbps deployments.

My recommendation: Cat.6A on every new project, no exceptions. The cable cost premium runs 30-40% (35-50 DZD per meter extra). On a 200-outlet building, that's 70,000-100,000 DZD — money you'll never spend on a migration if you make the right call now. Within five years, 10 Gbps to the desktop will be the baseline expectation.

One exception: for pure IP camera links, which rarely exceed 50 Mbps, standard Cat.6 is perfectly adequate.

2. The rules our technicians never skip

These are the rules unqualified installers routinely ignore — and they're the difference between cabling that lasts 15 years and cabling that causes problems within two:

3. FLUKE certification: proof the cabling actually meets spec

Anyone can run cable. Certification is the proof that the installation meets standard. We test every network outlet with a FLUKE DSX-600 CableAnalyzer — a roughly €15,000 instrument that measures every link against ISO/IEC 11801 parameters: NEXT, FEXT, attenuation, length, resistance.

At handover, we deliver a PDF report for every single outlet. "Outlet 47: PASS - 10GBASE-T." Or "Outlet 12: FAIL - length 96m, exceeds limit, redone." Failed outlets get fixed before sign-off. That report is your guarantee the cabling is compliant — not our word for it.

If an installer doesn't run FLUKE certification, ask yourself why.

4. Real costs for professional network cabling in Algeria

If a quote comes in well under that, ask for the FLUKE certification report. If there isn't one, the work isn't certified — and you have no real guarantee of actual performance.
